Deckhand vs. Reel Seat

What is a Deckhand rod?

Deckhand Rods are rods that have tape grips and NO Reel seat. This allows the angler to attach the reel at any comfortable place along the rod butt. As a general rule of thumb, align your elbow with the end of the rod and lay your arm along the rod, at the point where your hand ends,

  • DECKHAND trigger clamp - Designed for Cork tape, X-shrink tube, and Twine cord rods with various reels. The Clamp has large surface area to spread the load and increase clamping force. The adjustable slots gives you a lot of mounting options. A solid hook keeper to complete your fishing options. Trigger is very comfortable and will not interfere with your fishing.
  • We use the factory mount holes on the reel which is the strongest point per the manufacture. We use factory hardware due to reel manufactures proprietary screws which we cannot buy outside. This gives you 2 location to make any adjustments. Mounting ears width is the same for reel seat and Deckhand clamps. 

 What is a Reel Seat rod?

Reel seat Rods has a reel seat installed in the grip area. This allows you to mount various types of reels.  
  •   REEL SEAT trigger clamp was designed to fit between the reel seat collars, and is smaller than the deckhand version. Since 80% of the load is on the reel seat there is less load on the trigger clamp. The mini has a hook keeper and just as strong as the Deckhand clamps. We use the factory frame mount holes with the reel which is the strongest per the manufacture. 
  • We also use factory hardware due to reel manufactures proprietary screws which we cannot buy outside. This gives you 2 location to make adjustments. Mounting ear width is the same for both types.
